I wanted to have a discussion about trap tampering. This is a serious issue. I know some people think they are doing good by releasing animals that are in traps. Let me explain a few things about this within Georgia.
1) It is illegal to touch someone else’s traps.
2) Trappers are required, by their licensing authority, to check their traps every single day. So the animals will be released shortly.
3) In Georgia, we are required to release all squirrels unharmed in their natural habitat.
4) That squirrel that you released will likely avoid the traps. So you could be liable, by law, to pay for this persons home to be sealed!
5) IF that squirrel which was released is still getting inside the attic now the tech would have to shift to getting permission to use lethal traps. So you wanted to save it from being relocated and now you caused it to die.
Just my thoughts on the situation. A lot of times we place game cameras on jobs and catch trap tampering. I promise a Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Officer will be knocking on doors when this occurs.
Our company is not only licensed wildlife trappers but we are also licensed wildlife rehabbers. We always do what is in the best interest of the critters WHILE we are paid to get them out & keep them out of our client’s homes.
PLEASE LEAVE THEM ALONE.
Thanks for explaining to those that are uneducated-we appreciate how ethical y’all are and the care you take.Having had a squirrel in my attic I know how important it is to get them out and away.
Some people are just plain….
We never are trying to invalidate our customers when they say “we looked in the attic and didn’t see any signs”. Sometimes they can be right there in the open and a normal person would miss it.
That is why we have a job! 💚
This deer came to us with trams that required a lot of intensive care. With proper rehabilitation, she grew up and went out on her own with the local herd. Two years later she graced us with a visit from a distance with her first fawn. She fully adapted to the wild. 💚💚💚
